Texas Punch

Two stories. One can.

An anaglyph beer can — one design seen with the naked eye, a second through red-and-blue glasses. A first for a beer can.

Texas Punch anaglyph can

Texas heat. Island cool. One can that holds both.

The idea started the moment the client said the name. Texas Punch. Two worlds smashed together, and you could feel it: Texas heat, island cool. It needed to look like a collision.

So we built a can that made people stop. Anaglyph design, the old-school 3D trick, lets one can carry two artworks. You see one layer with the naked eye and the other through a custom filter we made, or through a beat-up pair of red-and-blue glasses from the back of a drawer. One design was Texas. The other was Hawaii. Together it was loud, messy and exactly right. As far as we know, it was the first time the technique had been used on a beer can.

Designed by David's crew at 5+8. Printed clean. No gimmicks beyond the one that mattered. Sometimes a label is just a label. Sometimes it is a left hook in twelve ounces.
